Hello neighbors,
At the annual meeting two years ago, in April of 2023, RCVFD voting members passed a resolution to again work on getting taxpayer funding support the Robie Creek Fire Protection District (RCFPD).
At the time of the 2024 annual meeting, the committee formed for this goal was still diligently working to get the ballot measure passed in the May 2024 primary election.
Also at our 2024 annual meeting, there was an almost complete turnover of board members and I was voted in as President. Our former Vice President (and previous acting President, Michael Sacks) then resigned a few weeks later.
During this same time, the contract that had been signed in 2021 to allow a cell tower to be built on Robie Creek Volunteer Fire Department (RCVFD) property, had just started becoming active again due to recent decisions in pending litigation against the project that allowed it to move forward. As you all know, since that time, the cell tower was built and put into service.
On May 21, 2024, the ballot initiative to levy taxpayer funds to support the Fire Protection District was passed. This started a fast-paced effort by the board to understand the process, to work with Boise County, and to prepare for who would become the RCFPD commissioners, what their roles would be, and what role the existing volunteer organization, RCVFD would have for the future of our district.
This year's Annual Meeting, scheduled for April 12 at 8:30 am, will start with a Free Pancake Breakfast, as in the past. It will be an opportunity to share with all of you the information we have learned and what is still in progress with the RCFPD and RCVFD entities and how they will work together for our community in the future. We will introduce the new RCFPD tax commissioners, talk about the plans for both organizations, and answer any questions you may have to the best of our ability.
As always, we urge you to attend this meeting and participate. We will also urge you to come prepared to find out what needs the RCVFD has for the upcoming year and ask you to volunteer to help.
Kind regards,
Scot McGavin
President, RCVFD
